After the larvae are settled (end of the larvae phase) the small spat is transferred to an indoor upwelling system where they grow in about one month to a size of 3-4mm. During this phase the spat is fed with algae from our continuous system. At this time the spat is acclimatized to the outdoor water temperature whereafter they will be transferred to one of our outdoor nursery fascilities.
In these nursery-fascilities the spat grows to seed of a desired size (1 to 3cm). We use upwelling systems driven by paddlewheels to create an upwelling waterflow.
During this phase the seed is regularly washed and graded to obtain optimal and homogeneous growth.
